Welling, OK – Funeral services for Bill Jim Christie will be held on Saturday, September 20th, 2014 at 10: 00 am at Reed-Culver Chapel with Bro. Luther Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19th, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will be held at Park Hill Cemetery. Bill Jim Christie was born on January 30th, 1926 in Welling, OK, the son of Amos and Elsie (Sweet) Christie. He went to Etta Bend Country School. Bill was a kind hearted man and a very hard worker. He was employed by Dotson-Roberts Lumber Yard for over 20 years. However, he worked as a rancher all his life. You could always find him working cattle or on his tractor bailing hay. He was a member of the Farmers Coop in Tahlequah, OK. Bill married the love of his life, Elsie, on December 10th, 1965. He loved his family and enjoyed any time spent with his nieces and nephews who were like his own children. Bill was a member of the Church of the First Born in Welling, OK. Bill’s health began to fail him and he went to his eternal home on Wednesday, September 17th, 2014 in Tahlequah, OK. Bill was 88 years old. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Christie; his mother and father; one brother, Martin Christie and two sisters, Helen “Maxine” Kennedy and Nell Kempf.
Bill is survived by two stepsons, Carl Homes of Welling, OK and Roy Holmes of Martinsville, IN; one sister, Betty Wood of Bixby, OK; seven nephews, Fred Blevins, Randy Blevins, Wayne Blevins, Dale Blevins, Don Kempf, Amos Christie and Jesse Ruth; five nieces, Margaret Taylor, Jill Cope, Jane Jones, Madonna Christie and Angie Ruth, as well as seventeen grandnephews, nine grandnieces and a host of friends and loved ones.
