Mary E. Menickelli, 84 of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday. Mary was born on August 11, 1928 in Syracuse and lived in Elbridge for thirty years before returning to Syracuse. A graduate of North High School, Ms. Menickelli retired from the Syracuse VA Medical Center where she worked for over thirty years as a Dental Assistant. She was predeceased by her parents, Emelio and Jennie (DelMonico) Menickelli; her brothers, Peter (Grace), Emelio "Junior", and Gene Menickelli.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Justin (Kristin) Menickelli of Cullowhee, NC; Jennie (Michael) Brown of Dewitt; Todd (Kristen) Menickelli of Baldwinsville, and Deanna (David) Boudov of Baldwinsville; sisters-in-law, Alberta Menickelli and Louise Menickelli; five great-nieces and five great-nephews.
Everyone who knew her understood her devotion to her brothers and how incredibly proud she was to be an aunt to their four children. She considered them her legacy too and spent many years entertaining them by taking them on adventures throughout Central New York in her yellow Volkswagen Bug. Mary loved animals and was a caretaker to many cats and dogs over her lifetime. She will be remembered for her strength, creativity and generosity. She spent her free time crafting and painting ceramics, and if you visited her home you often left with more than you came with.
