Jaime Bayona was born on May 31, 1944, in Bogota Colombia. He was one of seven siblings and began working at a very early age. He was proud of his hard-working ethics, his tenacity to exceed in any position and most of all to getting the job done to the best of his abilities. In 1970 he traveled to NY following the Love of his life Maria Antonia Gomez. With a suitcase full of aspirations and dreams he arrived to look for one or two jobs at times and to learn a foreign language.
Jaime was recognized for being a caring, helpful, and generous man. He would start the day with a smile, and he always had a way to reassure you that thigs would be ok. “Don’t worry about the day you have not seen yet” he would say. Oh, daddy how I wish that tomorrow will be easier than today and that we can accept that you will no longer be there. Give us the strength to follow in your footsteps and to make everyone’s day around us that much better. May our smiles be as contagious as yours and may your love for thy neighbor be our guide to be better people.
He leaves a wonderful and dedicated wife, a son William Bayona and two daughters Helen and Diane Bayona. He loved his four grandchildren with all his heart Javier, Giovanni, Victoria and Tomas who called him “Abuelito Happy”. Jaime will be remembered as a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. We will always remember you daddy and you will forever be in our hearts. May you rest in peace.
