Mr. Stewart Clifton Smith, age 78, of Sheffield, Alabama passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at North Alabama Medical Center. Stewart who was affectionately known as "Smitty" was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 13, 1945, the son of the late Ezra Smith and Exa Smith of Sylacauga, Alabama. He was a Christian and showed his faith through many acts of kindness as a handyman, helping a person in need, or buying meals for many people. Smitty was an electrician by trade working in many areas during his career. His second career was helping his son Ronnie start and grow Smith Waste Oil. Being able to work with his son brought him tremendous joy. Most recently, Smitty was working at Wal-Mart and true to his nature quickly made many friends. SMitty's gift of gab and love for talking to people led to his passion for being a Hamm Radio Operator. He always had Hamm radios in his vehicles and he loved to work on electronics.
In addition to his parents,he is preceded in death by his oldest son Ronald Clifton "Ronnie" Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 23 years, Janet Hughes Smith, sons, Kevin Smith (Desiree), Chuck Brantley, Michael Brantley; daughters, Dena Wade (Matthew), Teresa Smith (Gary); his grandchildren, Tony Smith (Kristen), Jesse Smith (Jessica), KayeDee Smith (Freddie), Mattie Archer (Logan), and Sam Wade; great grandchild Waylon Smith. Plus, he had 5 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and soon to be one great great grandchild from his loving extended family.
While Smitty passed away on his deceased son's (Ronnie) 53rd birthday, we are certain they are now reunited and worshiping our Lord in Heaven.
