Roy Alton McGrady, age 82, a devoted family man and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who found immense joy in the company of his great-grandkids, always eager to share stories and create lasting memories.
Roy is survived by his wife, Sarah Walker McGrady; his daughters Leigh Ann Bynum (Danny) and Cindy Fix (Randall); his brother John McGrady (Mary) and his sister Joyce Duncan; his grandchildren Jason Fix (Tonya), Michelle Gravette (Daniel), Tiffany Little (Matthew), and Conner Avery, his great grandchildren Tanner Gravette, Braxton Gravette, Jaxon Gravette, Walker Gravette and Levi Little.
Roy was preceded in death by his father Jack McGrady and his mother Mavis McGrady.
A visitation for Roy will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Roy will be laid to rest in Tallasahatchie Cemetery. All services will be officiated by Rev. Ronnie Forbus and Pastor Tim Griffin.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael McGrady, Bobby Rogers, Marshall McGrady, Adam McGrady, Jeff McGrady, Andy Osbourn, Steve Edwards and Ricky Sharpe.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Roy cherished the great outdoors and spent countless hours casting lines and exploring nature. His passion for fishing extended beyond his personal enjoyment; he often crafted tackle boxes for anyone who expressed a love for the sport, reflecting his generous spirit and desire to share his interests with others.
Roy was deeply committed to his faith and actively participated in church activities, embodying the values of kindness and service. He took care of those in his community, always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends.
His legacy of love, generosity, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. Roy is survived by his beloved family, who will continue to honor his memory through their own acts of kindness and love. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
