Larry Nix

Larry Wayne Nix, age 68, of Sylacauga, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital of Birmingham. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 11am at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with Brother Jeff Thomas of Bon Air Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Nix is survived by his wife, Hilda, Two sons, Keith (Tina) Nix and Christopher (Juanita) Nix, of Sylacauga, nine grandchildren, three Great-Grandchildren, two brothers, Haron Nix and Jerry nix, and five sisters, Jackie Goodwin; Lola Green; Linda Brown; Liz Brown; and Brenda Butler. He is preceded in death by his parent, Charles and Dorothy Nix.

Larry was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned four awards for the Bronze Star with three oak leaf clusters and the “V” device to denote heroism and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was a former employee of Catalytic/Southern Company of Wilsonville.
