Mr. Calvin Harry Reeves Sr.

Funeral service for Calvin Harry Reeves, Sr., 84, will be Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Reeves died October 8 at his residence. He was president of Sylacauga Little League and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was president of the Sylacauga Shriners, and loved to fish and hunt and was an avid golfer. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. He joined the Navy at age 17, and was on teh first ship that sailed into Nagoya, Japan. He also served in Okinawa. He was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Elizabeth Reeves; his brother, Howard Reeves; and his sisters, Charlotte Wyatt and Joyce Kelly.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Watkins Reeves of Sylacauga. They celebrated their anniversary August 30th; two sons, Calvin "Vin" H. Reeves, Jr. (Candi) of Sylacauga and Michael Reeves (Lindsey) of Birmingham; two daughters, Michele Ryan (Mike) and Pam "Pandy" Richardson (Jerry) of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Wes McDanal (Laura), Chris McDanal, Chris Duke (Donna), Ryan Houston, Reagan Reeves, Shelby Reeves, Levi Reeves and Mari Hayden Reeves; and great-grandchildren, Maegen McDanal, Payton McDanal and Blair Dukes.

Pallbearers will be Charles Duke, Ryan Houston, Keith Weldon, Chris Rogers, Reagan Reeves and Wes Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow golfers at Coosa Pines Golf Course.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel.
