Bob met the love of his life in the second grade. She dropped her crayons and he picked them up. They grew together in love and created a life that anyone would be proud of. They attended all of their school years together at B.B. Comer in Sylacauga. Bob joined the United States Army in 1959 where he assisted in the efforts of the Korean conflict as a decoder with a team of cryptanalysts and linguists. He served for three years as a Sergeant in Okinawa. Following his service, he attended the University of Alabama. The majority of his professional life was spent as a Certified Public Accountant in a Montgomery firm.
He was an avid outdoorsman and found delight in hunting, fishing, and exploring the woods. What he enjoyed most was the art of turkey calling in the spring of every year. He shared his love of the outdoors with all of his children and grandchildren and taught them skills that have shaped them into the people they are today. “PawPaw” invested in his family by making sure that they all had a healthy respect and appreciation for God’s creation.
In 2001, Bob and Joan, along with their family and friends, restored and resumed worship services at Weogufka First Baptist Church. For 22 years, Bob faithfully served his church as deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. Their hope was to provide a place of worship and community for the people of Weogufka.
A visitation for Bobby will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Weogufka First Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. All services will be officiated by Rev. Albert Pike and Rev. Steve Shoemaker.
