Our Dad had lived and cared for his grandmother for many years and had travelled all over the Maritimes for work or fun. He was in Alcohol Anonymous for 37 years, since 1988 and he pushed to help those struggling with addiction. In 1990 he enrolled in counselling programs and graduated in 1992. He held AA meetings in the community, worked in Eskasoni with NADACA, helped those seeking to get sober with Detox/Rehab and eventually he became a medical driver for those struggling to get to these services. He always championed your healing journey, with no judgement just understanding. He also volunteered with the Wagmatcook Fire Dept for over 15 yrs. Walter enjoyed fishing with his wife, children and his fishing buddies including the family dog(s). His favorite songs were old country, Johnny Cash, Charley Pride and John Denver. He was always found watching videos on tik tok/facebook in the kitchen or action movies in the living room. He was a big fan of Hockey, Baseball, Ultimate Fighting and WWE. His favorite hockey team being the Montreal Canadiens for life!
It’s no secret our Dad struggled with many health problems from Diabetes to Cancer and Transplants to Dialysis and throughout it all, he always had a positive outlook that things will get better, His faith never wavered.
