Susan Elizabeth Martin, 64, of Cottagedale Crescent, Sydney, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney on April 5, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Greg and Mary MacDonald.
Susan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Brian C. Martin, and their son Brian Max.
Also surviving are her six siblings: Peggy MacDonald, Connie MacDonald, Neil MacDonald (Cathy) and Flora MacDonald, all of Sydney, Catherine Green (Peter) of Blackett's Lake, and Frances MacDonald, of Dartmouth.
Her passing is also deeply mourned by her brothers- and sisters-in-law Roger and Dorothy (Martin) Leblanc and Barry and Anne Marie Martin, all of Sydney. Susan was employed for many years in the guidance office at the Cape Breton Regional Vocational School.
She was also an integral part of several family businesses with her husband and son. Many couples will remember Susan as the vocalist at their weddings, accompanied by Brian.
Visitation will be Monday at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, George St., Sydney from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church, Whitney Avenue, with Fr.
