67 – Eskasoni

The family of Bobby Denny, 67, sadly announces his sudden passing on Thursday, December 31, 2015 in Eskasoni.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John Simon and Rita (Prosper) Denny.

He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Bobby was a red seal carpenter and worked for the Eskasoni Housing and Abamoweg woodworking. He enjoyed playing and watching sports. Bobby’s daily routine included driving in the early morning hours visiting family and friends. He enjoyed his Timmy runs and trying his luck either at bingo, card playing or at the Eskasoni Gaming Center. During winter months he enjoyed ice fishing with his best friends. In the summer months he would camp with his family at Potlotek, Malagawatch and Ben Eoin. Bobby took great pride in all his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He enjoyed seeing all their accomplishments and was always there to support them.

He is survived by his long time companion, Fran Young, by his brother Joseph Henry Denny, Eskasoni; sisters Beverly MacDonald (Sandy), Quebec; Bernadette Gloade (Findley), Marlene Denny (Jack) and Shirley Denny, Millbrook; Gail Stevens (Darren), Ronalda Denny, Eskasoni; stepsister Elizabeth Bernard, Waycobah. He is also survived by his children Rita Denny (Roger), Roberta Denny, Bob Denny Jr. (Sheena), Vincent Denny, Trevor Denny, John Simon Denny (Dyna), stepchildren, Chris Stevens (Carla), Gaetanne Stevens (Chuck), Josh Stevens, Shayne Stevens (Maxine); 17 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, many nieces and nephews; godchildren Levi Googoo, Big Cove; Corrina Milliea, Millbrook; Daren ‘Baby D’ Stevens, Eskasoni and best friends Jackie ‘Sanwell’ Paul, Joe Paul, Oken Marshall, Danny, Ta’pit and Joe Allan Francis.

He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis Marie Denny, stepmother Florence (Johnson) Denny, brother Lester Denny, sisters Muriel Gloade, Eleanor Marie Denny, infant siblings Wilfred, Clara, Muriel Clare and step siblings Anthony Syllliboy and Pamela Doucette, also by godparents Wilfred Prosper and Margaret ‘Sanwell’ Paul and godchildren Harrison Gould, Delores Ann Stevens and Stephen Sanipass Jr.

Visitation for the late Mr. Denny will be on Thursday, January 7, 2016 after 7 pm at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
