Sydney
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mamie Joe on October 15, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born May 3, 1918 she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Joy) Fogarty.
Mamie was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Society, KOC, St. Theresa’s Choir, CWL (Shows and Concerts), the Pensioners Club, and was an active member of the Liberal Party. Some of the things Mamie enjoyed were road trips with the VAN crowd, playing cards with anyone and singing, but her most favourite thing of all was cooking spaghetti dinners for all of her children and grandchildren. Mamie will be remembered for the kindness that she showed to all.
She is survived by her children Joe (Lorraine), NL, Dennis (Kathleen), and Mary Louise (Sandy) Greig, both of Sydney, Sheila (Kenny Leverman) MacNeil, Halifax, Margaret Ann (Rod) Probert, Halifax; grandchildren, Patricia, Margaret, Daniel, Joanne, Jennifer, Bhreagh, Heather, Andrew, Maia, Katie and Matthew; newest member of Mamie’s family and first great granddaughter, Bridgette. Mamie is also survived by her sister, Margie Currie, Toronto, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mamie was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1984; sisters, Genevieve, Aggie, Etta, and Nora; brothers, Patrick, Dick and Breezer.
