It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing on October 18th, of Mary Margaret MacIntyre (Ferguson) of Sydney. Mary, 84, was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents Mary and Peter Ferguson and sister Catherine MacLeod and is survived by her sister Sadie Langley. She leaves behind a loving family of 5 children (Heather, Joe Jr, Gary, Stephen and Andrew), 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mary was the heart of the family. She was a loving and caring Mom, who put everyone ahead of herself, and was always in the front of the line for anybody in need, good or bad. Her years working as a Nurse’s Aid and caregiver showed her truly caring nature. Throughout many moves around the country, Mary made and kept friends for her lifetime and made an impact wherever she was.
Some of Mom’s best work came in the kitchen. Whether it was cooking a roast all day for family dinner or making the best Gingerbread Man cookies in the land, Mary loved to host, have her family and friends around especially for an evening tea. She loved her music and would step out with her sisters to see live acts throughout Cape Breton as often as she could.
Thanks to all the MacGillivray’s Guest Home staff, especially those on Reminiscent Rd. The love, care, and support with Mom and the family was amazing. Donations can be made to the Friends of MacGillivray’s.
Mary…Mom...Nanny was truly loved and will be missed dearly.
