With broken hearts the family of Margaret Francis wishes to announce her peaceful passing from this earth after a long illness, at her home on September 23, 2015 .
Margaret was born in Morrell, Prince Edward Island, the daughter of the late William and Caroline (Cremo) Francis.
Margaret was a residential school survivor and went to Boston where she lived and worked for many years. She later came to Eskasoni where she raised her family. Along with the challenges as mother and a wife she was involved in many community activities including taking care of many of the children of relatives and friends in the neighborhood. Margaret was devoted to her family, loved music, bingo and going to church. She was a Eucharistic minister for many years. She had special devotion to St. Anne, St Kateri and the Blessed Mother.
She leaves behind to mourn, a lifetime of friends; Jean Mac Neill and Loretta Sylliboy; daughters Donna Marie Francis, Elizabeth Johnson ( Thomas), Anne Marie Marchand, Charlene Nicholas ( Paul) and her only son Jason Francis. Also surviving are brothers Freeman Francis,Wagmatcook; Michael Kane, Boston; sisters Helen Dennis,Eskasoni and Shirley Mitchell, New Glasgow; grandchildren,Adam,Bryan,Sheena,Brittany,Rebecca,Stephen and Tuma Johnson, Sean Francis,Trent,Tryah,Kalolin,Raylene and Raven Nicholas, RJ Sack, Bernie Sack, Charlie and Alyssa Francis, and many great grandchildren; by godchildren Lawrence Doucette, Donna Doucette, Victor Benjamin Googoo, and Mary Elizabeth Googoo.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Charles William Francis, grandsons Adrian Francis, infant Charles Michael Johnson, brother Ronnie Francis and her lifetime friend Janie Herney.
Visitation for the late Margaret Francis will be held at the Gabriel Centre in Eskasoni on Thursday October 1 at 7pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the Holy Family Church, Eskasoni on Saturday, October 3 at 10:30 am with Rev, Angus MacDougall officiating. Salite in the Gabriel Center will follow the mass. Cremation and interment in the parish cemetery will take place at a later date.
