Levi was born February 15, 1924 to the late Michael (Semisel) and Elizabeth Denny.
During his early years, he enjoyed his days as a pulp cutter, and plumber. He enjoyed doing yardwork, agriculture, and was an avid blueberry and potato picker.
Levi married the love of his life, the late Bridget Denny in October of 1946 and were happily married for 59 years. Together they had 10 children, along with 3 foster children. Levi was a well-respected elder of Mi’kma’ki, and very well known in the community of Eskasoni for his knowledge in prayer, language and culture, and a teacher for many.
Levi was a devoted member of the Eskasoni Holy Family Parish and was the keeper of the Mi’kmaw White Sheet and Grand Council Flag for the community, in which he took pride in for many years.
In his later years, he enjoyed his daily drives with his granddaughter and best friend, Cassandra, whom was also his caregiver.
The family wants to give a special thanks to Cassandra for selflessly putting her life on pause to take care of our Dad, as well as our sister Kathleen who devoted her time during the day to look after our Dad.
Levi is survived by his children Michael (Annie Catherine), Rannie (Annie Marie), Annie, Kathleen (Thomas), Levi (Mary – Tuii), Howard, Leta (Fred), Wanda (Jeff), and 31 Grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren, and godchild Ann Denny.
Levi is predeceased by his loving wife Bridget Denny, daughters Mary Jane (Simon), Mary, and Germaine Agnes along with his sons Noel Bernard and Donald Bernard. He is also predeceased by his grandparents Peter and Hellen Denny, 1 brother Paul M. Denny, and sisters Mary Denny and Susie Marshall, grandchildren Stephen Denny and Noel Jeddore, godchildren Hazel Herney, Peter Cabot, and son in laws Blair Bernard and Simon Jeddore.
Our dad will be greatly missed for his loyalty to his faith, his sense of humor, and the outpouring love for his family and community.
