It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Isabel Dwyer on April 2, 2023. Born November 9, 1926, Isabel was the youngest child of the late Hugh Valentine Chisholm and Florence (MacDonald) Chisholm. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Terence William “Ted” Dwyer, Sydney who passed in 2001.
She leaves behind her daughters Anne O’Toole (Ronald), Ottawa, Mary Dwyer, Vancouver, and her sons Terence Dwyer, Halifax, and Hugh Dwyer (Donalda), Ottawa. She also leaves 7 grandchildren Tracey O’Brien (Sean); Lawrence O’Toole; Liam O’Toole (Vanessa); Alexander Dwyer (Nicole); Christine Dwyer; Jacob Dwyer (Penelope); Spencer Dwyer (Tori) and 5 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Ted, she was also predeceased by her 6 sisters Janet Ross, Mary Sampson, Christine Boutilier, Anne Stone, Jessie Young and Catherine Rudderham and 4 brothers Ronald, Colin, Aloysius, and John Angus, who died in infancy.
Isabel was a long-time and devout member of St. Theresa’s Parish in Sydney as well as a charter member of the Catholic Women’s League being active over 55 years.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Their care and attention greatly enhanced our mother’s final weeks.
At Isabel’s request, there will be no visitation or reception. A funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Church in Sydney on May 1, 2023, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. For those unable to attend, the Funeral Mass will be livestreamed via TW Curry's facebook page.
