We are saddened to announce after a brief illness, our father Ian Murdock MacMillan passed away on February 8th, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by family and friends. On June 11, 1941 he was born and raised in Westmount, NS to parents Kenny and Mary MacMillan.
Ian spent his early years on the farm, He later went to Teachers College in Truro and taught mainly at AVTC in the upgrading program. Ian married Donna in 1971, and together they raised their family. They were members of Christ the King Church. Dad will be remembered for his kind and gentle heart and his wonderful sense of humour. He was always willing to help those in need.
Ian is survived by two daughters Shauna MacMillan; Coxheath, and Robin Mugridge; Westmount, with whom he was very close. He is also survived by his son in law Rick Mugridge and grandson Ricky Mugridge; both of Westmount, brother Jimmy MacMillan; Sydney, His sister and brother in law Mike and Sharon Currie whom he loved dearly, as they spent many wonderful hours in Lake Ainslie. He is also survived by several special nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Donna, Parents in law Joe and Marguerite Zack, as well as sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and Neil MacNeil.
A visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Friday February 14, 2020, from 6-8pm, a Funeral will be celebrated at Christ the King Church (Trinity Avenue) on Saturday February 15, 2020 at 11 am.
Family flowers only, in lieu, donations can be made to Hospice Palliative Care or Charity of Choice.
