Sister Elizabeth Tapper, died peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the CND Health Care Centre, Sydney.
Born in Torbay, Newfoundland on March 5, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Francis Tapper and Mary Martin.
She entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in January, 1932 and made profession in 1934. Sister Elizabeth taught in various places throughout the Maritimes, including Newcastle, Charlottetown, Summerside, New Victoria, and Sydney. She was much loved by her students for her kind and gentle manner.
Upon retiring from teaching, Sister Elizabeth spent many years volunteering in parishes both in Baddeck and Sydney Mines. Wherever Sister Elizabeth ministered, her deep faith and prayerful spirit accompanied her.
In 2012, with her health declining, Sister Elizabeth moved to the CND Health Care Centre, Sydney, where she was lovingly cared for until her passing.
Sister Elizabeth is survived by one sister, Angela, and by one brother, Raymond (Theresa), Torbay, NL and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters Ellen, CND; and Agnes, CSP; Donna, Virginia, Rose and Monica and by brothers Richard, George and Robert.
Visitation for Sister Elizabeth will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney, with Bible Vigil at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks, NS.
