Elaine was born June 17, 1941 to Johnny and Martha Hanna, nee Haddad, all of Sydney, NS.
Elaine loved life in big way, in fact, whatever she did, she did with enthusiasm and passion. She could rock and roll like no other attending frequent dances. Elaine was an avid skater in her day, as well as a bowler, dart player, and bingo player. Elaine’s card shark Dad taught her the game of Tarabish which she excelled at. She and her long time card partner and cousin, Michael Hollohan often cleaned up at tournaments.
Perhaps Elaine’s most accomplished skill was her Lebanese cooking. She took pride in her freezer filled with cabbage rolls, koosa, grape leaves and kibbeh. Each year she toiled bottling her infamous pickled beets. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than gifting people her food.
Elaine had a long career in the cafeteria business starting with CB Regional Vocational school, Sydney Academy, Malcolm Munroe and Riverview Rural High schools. She met, befriended, & guided many young people whom fondly remembered her many years later.
You could easily find Elaine at one of her favorite places, Steel City, Cedars Club, and French Club or at a bingo hall with her bottle of Diet Pepsi in hand.
