The family of the late Douglas MacLeod Barrett, age 80, regret to announce his sudden passing on March 22, 2019.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Dougald and Margaret (MacLeod) Barrett.
Doug was employed in the construction industry as a plumber/pipefitter. He was a retired member of Local 682 Plumber/Pipefitters Union in excess of 40 years. Doug had an excellent work ethic as attested to by his fellow tradesmen.
In his youth, Doug participated in several sports. He was an avid swimmer and jogger. Doug was very cognizant of physical fitness; in fact, two months prior to his death, he was still cutting firewood for his stove. He was very interested in antique cars and was the owner of one.
Doug is survived by his only son, Carl.
Following cremation, a funeral service will be held at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 1 pm.
