Dorothy Lillian Smith, 67 of Sydney, formerly of Whitney Pier, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Isabel (Sheppard) Parsons.
Dorothy was a member of St. Alban’s parish, Whitney Pier. She was very active in the Holy Redeemer Folk Choir for a number of years and the Marg Healy Ukulele Strummers. She was formerly employed for a number of years at Crowell’s Ltd.
She is survived by her husband Ray, daughter Raelene (David) Wilkie, Howie Centre; son Steven (Allison), Ft. Sask., AB; grandchildren Jenna and Chad Wilkie, Alex, Meigen and Emily Smith; sisters Audrey (Charlie) Hopkins; Margie MacDonald, both from Sydney; Cheryl (Kenny) Ratuskny, Lower Sackville; brothers, Ralph (Mary), Bob (Penny), Gordie (Arlene), all of Sydney and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son Andrew Kelly in infancy, a sister Pauline in infancy and brothers-in-law Charlie Wilson and Currie MacDonald.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Smith will be from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Sunday February 22 at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:30 pm on Monday at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
