We are saddened by the passing of our dear mother, Dorcas Bagnell, which occurred at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care on Friday, April 6 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cabonear, Nfld., Dorcas was the eldest daughter of Gilbert and Elizabeth (Butt) Rose, Florence, CB. Dorcas is survived by her two daughters Elizabeth “Betty” Rudderham (Marvin Crittenden) and Barbara Mercer (David), three grandchildren; Parker Rudderham (Jenny), Todd and Courtney Mercer; three great grandchildren, Angela Rudderham-Steel (John), Danielle Rudderham-Noirot (Chris) and Heather Rudderham; one great- great grandchild Cayden Noirot; sisters-in-law Alice MacLeod and Betty Rose and many nieces and nephews and their families and by many special friends. Dorcas was predeceased by her husband Sidney Bagnell, a son David and a son-in-law Frank Rudderham, her parents, her brothers; James, Robert, Clarence and Dan; sisters Gladys (Walter) Matthews, Blanche (Alex) Boutilier. A kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Dorcas was always there to help her family and friends. She loved to knit, bake, cook, entertain and have a good game of cards. She was a member of Christ Church Parish and the ladies auxiliary. She lived all her married life in Hardwood Hill where with her husband she owned and operated the family business, Sids Dairy for many years. She spent the last six years living at Harbourstone where she made many friends with residents and staff. We are so grateful to the staff on Irish Cove for the kindness and compassion that was shown to mom during her years there. They treated her like their own family. We are so grateful for mom’s special friends Mavis Morrison, Lorraine Barnaby and Calder Chant for all their kindness and many visits to mom through the years. Thanks to Dr. John Archibald for many years of care and to the VON a special thanks. Upon request there will be no visitation or flowers. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 9 at 2:00 pm from Christ the King Anglican Church, George St., Sydney with a reception to follow at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel.
