It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Marie Marinelli, Howie Centre, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 3, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Sydney Mines on August 26, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Patsy & Amelia (Fougere) Marinelli.
Until recently Donna was self-employed as a barber, operating her barber shop in Sydney Mines for many years. While barbering, she made many friends and always had the coffee pot on for anyone that came into her shop.
For many years she enjoyed spending her summers at St. Ann's Bay Campground. She was an associate member of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha of Antigonish.
She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her sister Patricia (Daniel) Dunlop, Howie Centre. Also survived by brothers-in-law Donald Puddicombe, Sydney, & David MacIntyre, Southside Boularderie.
She will forever be remembered by her nieces and nephews & their families: Joanne Marinelli, Sydney; Kevin (Lisa) Marinelli, Connecticut; Stephen (Sue) Marinelli, Petawawa; Paula (Peter) Mills, St. John's, NL; Lisa (Kim) Blake, Winnipeg; Daren Marinelli (Yellowknife); Murdock (Mary Jane) MacDougall, Ottawa; Bob MacDougall, Sydney Mines; Kim (Charlie) Walker, Sydney Mines; Stuart (Lori) MacDougall, Lower Sackville; Elizabeth (Darryl) Boudreau, Sydney Mines; Paul (Carla) MacIntyre, Calgary; David (Jaime) MacIntyre, Calgary; Michael (Jennifer) MacIntyre, Nunavut.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Joseph, Robert, and John R (Rudy), and by sisters Marie Puddicombe, Bernice MacDougall, and Muriel MacIntyre. Also predeceased by sister-in-law Lois Marinelli and brother-in-law Murdock MacDougall.
Visitation for Donna will be held Tuesday, October 6 from 2-4 & 7-9 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 7 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
