Clement was born into a life of hardship, in 1959 he was shipped off to residential school until he returned to Eskasoni in 1963 to a foster family, eventually leaving a few years later for Boston. Clement worked various jobs and started a family. He did his best and managed to survive the transition from residential school, to an Eskasoni foster home to city living, the transition came with a price, and he was involved with alcohol and drugs. The residential school and foster home left deep marks on his conscience.
In 1996, Clement returned to Canada and settled in Elsipogtog, NB with his love Debra Simon, where he stayed until his death.
He enjoyed travelling, reading and his family. He was always happy, had a smile for us, although we could see the sadness behind it, he never let on he was in pain.
Clement is survived by his 4 children; Vickie (Simon), Patti, Stephanie and Daniel, step-children; Shannon Simon, Trisha Simon, Lacey Simon, Debra Lee Augustine, and Daryl Augustine, siblings; Arlene Stevens, Sylvester Paul, Terrance Paul and Kevin Paul. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, his loving wife of 25 years, Debra Ann Simon, and brothers George and Clifton Paul.
