Carol Ann McPherson, 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded and comforted by her loving family. Born in Sydney, Carol was a life- long resident of Grand Lake Road. She was the eldest daughter of the late Alex and Mary (Samson) Langlois.
She was a member of St. Agustine parish.
She was a longtime employee of F.W. Woolworth in Sydney and Sydney Mines. Carol travelled throughout Atlantic Canada assisting with store openings and she was employed as manager of the Sydney store until retirement.
Carol is survived by her son, John (Carole Lee); grandchildren, Nicholas, Katelyn, Christian; her daughter, Linda; grandchildren, Cody and Courtney. Also surviving are sisters, Rose (Tom Cole), Charmaine (Leonard) Chiasson, Lorraine (Billy) McMullin, Debbie (Billy) Levangie and Cathy (Aubrey) Farrow, all of Sydney; and brothers, Alex (Mary) Langlois, Sydney, William (Colleen) Langlois, Halifax, and David (Marilyn) Langlois, Sydney; sisters-in-law, Rose Langlois, Vickie Langlois (Brian), Nancy (Leon) Peterson, Agnes Whalen and Veronica (Willis) Brace. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families and many friends at the bingo hall.
Besides her parents, Carol was pre-deceased by her husband of 34 years, Jackie, her brothers, Simon and Wayne, her brothers-in-law, Russell, Leo, sisters-in-law, Zita, Josie, Theresa.
Carol’s family are very thankful for the care Carol received from her doctor Mike Ryan as well as the staff of emergency and ICU departments of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Special thanks to her sister Lorraine who was Carol’s major care giver and her “bingo buddy”. She will be missed by her Pokeno club members who met every Thursday.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 at St. Theresa’s Church with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
