Anthony passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Jan. 3, 2014.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Michalik) Niedzielski.
Prior to his residence on Meadows Road, the family operated a farm and sawmill on River Deny’s Mountain.
Anthony had a great passion for hockey, life-time fan and supporter of his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. Also he was one of the founding members of the former Sydney Forks Minor Hockey Association.
Prior to his retirement in 1997, he was employed with Municipal Ready Mix for 39 years.
Anthony took great pride and pleasure in his job and was a very dedicated and loyal employee.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 54 years, Pauline (Reid) Niedzielski; sons, Edward (Donna), Gordie (Cleo), Teddy (Seana) and his daughter, Jane. Anthony is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Maria, Anthony, Johnny, Keegan, Geoffrey, Hannah, Melissa, Jane, Joey, Colby, Dylan, Petra and Julia; sister, Wanda Yurchesyn.
Anthony was predeceased by sister, Mary Durkacz and a brother in infancy.
Visitation for the late Mr. Niedzielski will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday, Jan 6 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan 7 in St. Mary’s Church, East Bay. Rev. Frank Abbass will officiate with interment in the parish cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Oncology Department at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the Howie Centre Volunteer Fire Department.
