It is with profound sadness that we announce that our mother Anna Kateri (GooGoo) Pierro passed away suddenly on September 29th, 2024 at the age of 81. Born March 2nd, 1943 in We'koqma'q first nation but built a life together with her husband Francis in Wagmatcook. She was the most caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.. Her sudden passing was too unexpected but we believe our dad came to get her because their love for each other could not separate them for too long.
Our parents had hearts of gold who opened their home and hearts to many children over the years. She was always there when we needed her and so was our dad. We believe our dad came to get her because their love was so strong and their love was true love. Her job was done here on earth and could no longer be here without our dad. Their legacy will live on in our family through us their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and the children who were a part of our family through the years.

Our mom was an amazing woman whose teachings will be forever remembered by so many. She was a daughter first, a wife, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, auntie, godmother and foster mother. Her strong catholic upbringing was the strength that kept her going. The many achievements in her lifetime will be remembered from her basket making skills, caregiver to elders, tea biscuit maker, fundraiser for our church, cooking for so many wakes and funerals, medical taxi driver, and teacher of the Mi'kmaq language, member of the elders council and housing committee. So many more to list. She was also called “Mommy 2”.
She will forever be in our hearts and we are so thankful for her being the best mom ever. Special thanks to the ER staff at Inverness Hospital and to everyone who was a part of her life.
