It is with sadness, the family of William A. MacLennan announce his passing on Friday, February 24, 2023. Born in Sydney Mines on August 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Norman and Annie (Morrison) MacLennan.
Our dad was employed for many years as a welder with Devco. Following his retirement he took an interest in gardening and had quite the green thumb. Trees, shrubs, flowers; they all flourished under his care. He was also an avid fisherman. There was nothing he enjoyed more than to go off with his son Brian, friends, or even by himself for a day of salmon or trout fishing at his favorite spots in Margaree or Baddeck. He also enjoyed driving around the Cabot Trail with our mother on a Sunday afternoon.
Dad will be sorely missed by daughters; Judy (Peter), Cheryl, Rebecca and Valerie, and sons; Terry, Brian, Donald and Chris. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Travis, Ryan, Ali, Andreas, Matthew, Cody, Nasia, Vanessa and great grandson Luca. He is survived by sisters Anita, Janice and brother Howard.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen, daughter Donna, son William J. and brothers Angus, Johnnie, Morris and Roderick.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Ave, Sydney Mines. There will be a private family graveside service held at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
