It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Marie Mac Mullin, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at her home in Truro , surrounded by her loving family and two fur babies, Bella and Lizzie.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late August and Florence (Boutilier) Roland of Mill Creek.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Servine; brothers, Wesley (the late Irene) and Wendell ( the late Helen); sister Eileen; son-in-law Calvin, grandson, Tim; and long- time partner, Jimmy Finney.
She Is survived by daughters, Debbie ( Allister), Juanita, Ruth (Alfred), Patricia (Peter); sons, Dawson (Darlene) and Richard (Kim). She is also survived by 9 loving grandchildren, Amanda, Tyler, Christopher, Krystal Lee, Gregory, Natasha, Jason, Rickie and Rodney; 8 great grandchildren; brother George David(Helen); sister, Anne Fitzgerald (the late Winston Scotty Fitzgerald) sister-in-law, Clare Baxter; brother-in-law, Brian; the Finney children and many nieces and nephews.
She work over the years for Canada Post in mail delivery, the Texaco Restaurant as a cook, The Canadian Coast Guard Collage as a cleaner, and for The Beinn Breagh Estate with her dear friend (the late Theresa MacAulay) as housekeeper, but, if asked, she would say her most fulfilling job was raising her family. She got the greatest pleasure in spending hours baking all her children and grandchildren their very own individual tins of their favourite cookies and loaf cakes every Christmas, spending days standing making her preserves just to turn around and give most of them away, working in her yard, gardening and mowing, sometimes til way passed dark and she loved the nights just sitting on her lawn swing, with her grandson Rodney, watching the fire. With her kind, loving, generous heart and personality, she became our family’s go to person for all problems, big or small, she was only a phone call away. She wasn’t just our “Mother”, she was our “Best friend”
We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to the Truro VON nurses, palliative care team, the Truro nurses and doctors on duty during mom’s many hospital visits, mom’s in home care provider, Ann, whom mom thought of as family, and last, but not least, her favourite doctor, Dr Cook. To each and every one of you, your constant care and concern for the health and well-being of our mother was second to none, and we sincerely thank you!
Mom’s favourite saying was “ I love you with all my heart”. Now we say to you mom “we love you with all our heart, we all have our memories we will forever treasure, you were loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure,”
