James Jackson Roper

Born in Ingonish, December 11, 1928. He was the son of the late Percy and Georgina (Jackson) Roper. He is survived by Thelma, his wife of 60 years, daughters Audrey (Winston), Sue (Rick), Wendy (David), Valerie (Darrell) all of Ingonish, and Angela “his Angie girl” at home, son Raymond (Susan) of Middle Sackville, eight grandchildren Julia, Andrew, Courtney, Lindsay, Carissa, Brittany, Lucas, Zachery and one great granddaughter Matilda. Jim is also survived by his sister Blanche of Sydney, three nieces Doreen, Sharon, Pam and one nephew David. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by two brothers Carl and Henry. Jim was employed at Cape Breton Highlands Golf Course until his retirement in 1994.The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at the Emergency Department and the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the staff of MacGillivray Guest Home and the Victoria County Home Care Providers. There will be no visitation. A private funeral service will be held for the family on Thursday, July 14th. Jim will be laid to rest in the United Church Cemetery.
