David Perrier MacKinnon, “Uncle David”. Born February 26th, 1955 in Black Point, NS. Beloved son, brother, uncle, friend and most importantly Husband & Father, passed away peacefully in his home on July 20th, 2020. David Perrier was the son of the late John David “Jimmy Duncan” and Margaret “Margie” (Bonnar) MacKinnon. One of 11 children, he was predeceased by Freddie (Debbie, Cathy), Archie (Mary), Clarence (Norma), Colleen, and Clayton. As well as his best friend, Jeffrey. He is survived by wife Helen, daughter Calista, siblings Flossy (Stevie), Duncan, Malcolm, Oliver (Delores), and Johnenna. His mother & father in law Paddy & Alice, all his sister & brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and friends. His wife Helen, and daughter Calista were his life & soul, his pride & joy. Yet even though he was the immensely proud father to one beautiful “baby girl”, he was also a father figure to all his nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. He was a simple man, happy just being on the water or in the forest, spending time with his animals and the communities’. Always putting a smile on everyone’s face. His love of outdoors begun at a young age and carried on until the very end. Working 1st as a surveyor, then on the ocean with his father. Later to take over & share the passion aboard the Double D & Daughters with his brother & best friend, Duncan. After fishing for 40+ years, he entered retirement full tilt, back to his roots – cutting, splitting & delivering wood. “Tractor Dave” had a heart of gold, as big as his community. He was the ultimate yes man, never to leave anyone stuck or stranded. He believed in unlimited 2nd chances & would give the shirt off his back without ever thinking of getting anything in return. There is not one person in his community who did not depend on David one way or another. One thing is for certain... he will be greatly missed.
We would like to invite friends & family to the graveside burial service Sat. July 25th at 2pm at St. Andrews United Church (Cemetery).
