Scott Kevin Cookson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong resident of Swansea, Massachusetts, passed away on May 8th, 2023, at the age of 66. He had been battling cancer for a year, and he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Scott was born on March 4, 1957, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Bette (Pollard) Cookson and the late Donald Cookson. He graduated from Case High School in 1975 and earned an associates degree in environmental science from Bristol Community College. He was the owner of New England Golf Cars in Seekonk, Massachusetts, and had been in the industry since he was 17 years old.
Scott was an avid golfer and was the founder of the Baker Tour, a golf tour that has been running since 1996. He was a longtime member of Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and a member at Crestwood Country Club in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. He also enjoyed fishing, vacationing, and spending time with his family, especially his seven grandchildren, whom he adored.
Scott is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen (Bradshaw) Cookson, and their three sons: Christopher Cookson and his wife Sheena of Somerset, Massachusetts; Jonathan Cookson and his wife Ashley of Coventry, Rhode Island; and Tyler Cookson and his wife Jennifer of Swansea, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his mother, Bette Cookson of Swansea, Massachusetts; his brother Bruce Cookson and his wife Gail of Somerset, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Scott will be held on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at 11:00 am with calling hours beginning at 10:00 am held at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, located at 189 Gardners Neck Rd, Swansea, Massachusetts. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 12th, from 4:00-7:00 pm. The family extends the invitation to everyone to join them at the Crestwood Country Club, 90 Wheeler St, Rehoboth, MA at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 13, 2023, immediately following the Memorial Service.
