Ruth B. Skillings

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Arthur and Alice (Ashley) Barnes, Ruth lived in Fall River before moving to Rumford in 1951.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Ruth attended the Francis G. Allen Business School. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at the Newport Naval Training Station and Citizens Savings Bank. She worked at Old Stone Bank in Providence as Head Teller traveling between the branches training tellers before retiring in 1985.

Ruth loved being with her family, especially her granddaughters, and always looked forward to family gatherings.

Ruth is survived by three sons: Jackson H. Skillings, Jr. of Pawtucket, Jeffrey A. Skillings and his wife Jayne E. Dennis of Bristol, James A. Skillings and his wife Ingrid R. Dyck of Seekonk; three granddaughters, Kate and Jillian Dennis-Skillings and Lindsey Ruth Marie Skillings; three nieces, Sheryll Harkins, Judith Glesner, Carol French and one nephew, Bradford Barnes. She was the sister of the late George A. Barnes and sister-in-law of Ruth C. Barnes.

Ruth will have a private graveside service.
