

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William and Laura (Vandal) Demers, she has been a longtime area resident and was employed in the Swansea School Lunch Program for several years.
She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Fatima Church now St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of their Woman and Altar Guilds. She was active with the pro-life dramization with the diocese. Always caring about others, Mrs. McKenna favorite times spent were with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by ten children; Margaret R. “Peg” McKenna of Portsmouth, Patricia M. Stone and her husband Ronald of Somerset, Kathleen W. Addison and her husband Christopher of Las Vegas, NV, Norbert W. McKenna and his wife Marcia of Swansea, Christine J. Stoddard of Concord, NH, Joseph M. McKenna and his wife Judith of Chapel Hill, NC, Matthew J. McKenna and his wife Joann of Brewster, Douglas S. McKenna and his wife Joan of Fall River, Mary F. McKenna of Portsmouth, and Dorothy R. McKenna of White River Junction, VT, one sister; Laura “Pat” Aylsworth of Attleboro, two brothers; William K. Demers and his wife Nancy of FL, and John E. Demers and his wife Virginia of Cumberland, RI, brother-in-law; Alfred Vecoli of Pawtucket, RI, nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Laurie Almond and sister of the late Jeannette Vecoli.
Her Funeral will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
