Priscilla Smith

Priscilla (Posey) Smith (Mrs. C. Crawford), known to most as Pie, died on February 14, 2024 at age 100. She was born in Fall River on December 26, 1923 to Adrian and Irene (Earl Posey). She lived most of her adult life in Swansea and wintered, for almost 40 years, in St. Croix, USVI.

Pie was a graduate of Durfee High School, class of 1941 and Hood College, class of 1945. After college she worked as a Field Assistant for the American Red Cross and later a Case Worker for Family Services of Fall River.

She was a member of the Fall River Women’s Club, Junior League of FR, Fall River Historical Society and the English-Speaking Union. She was a longtime member of Baker's Beach in Westport and the St. Croix Country Club. Her simplicity and dry wit will be sorely missed.

Pie was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years C. Crawford Smith and her son C. Cameron Smith. She leaves her devoted daughter Posey Smith Kooris, her grandchildren, Priscilla Reay, her husband Matthew, Thomas Crawford Kooris and Ian Smith. She also leaves three great-grandchildren that always brought a smile to her face.

Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest with a reception of light refreshments to follow from 11:00 to 12:00 PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Fall River Historical Society, 451 Rock St., Fall River, MA 02720. Burial private.
