Born in Warren, RI, he was the son of the late Frank Silva and Eva (Perry) Silva.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II. George worked as a self-employed Plumber for many years until his retirement in 1994. A former Harbormaster for the Town of Swansea, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed time by the river, boating and digging for quahogs. His other hobbies included playing horseshoe and cards with family and friends. Above all else, George was a devoted family man and husband.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Steven Silva and his wife Janet of Swansea, Debra Digiammo and her husband Nicholas of Rehoboth, Sheila Neu and her husband Larry of Rehoboth, George Silva and his wife Sandy of Swansea and Susan Harris and her husband Michael of Ridgefield, CT; 10 grandchildren, Kristen and Marc Silva, Kelly and Nicholas Digiammo, Douglas Laflamme, Elise West, Joel and Paige Silva and Marina and Alaina Harris; 11 great-grandchildren; one surviving sister, Lucy Faria, age 102, of Swansea and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, John, Joseph, Daniel, Frank, Albert, Edward, Richard and Dorothy Frechette.
