Doris B. Lamonde

Doris B. (Rioux) Lamonde, “Mem,” age 88, of Swansea, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 in Country Gardens Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of the late Roger W. Lamonde for 62 years.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Ovide G. and Albertine (Cardin) Lamonde, she lived in Fall River before moving to Swansea in 1960.

Mrs. Lamonde attended B.M.C. Durfee High School and worked as a floor supervisor at Harlee Manufacturing for many years before retiring in 1985. She was a communicant of the former St. Michael’s Church now St. Francis of Assisi Church.

An avid knitter, she made hats for babies for local hospitals and was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed painting, crafting lampshades, traveling, gardening, cooking, and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons: Donald Lamonde and his wife Cheryl of Swansea, Richard Lamonde and his wife Barbara of Fall River, Norman Lamonde and his wife Margaret of Hingham, one sister: Aline Larrivee and her husband Roland, one brother: Donald Rioux and his wife Ida all of Fall River, twelve grandchildren: Stacey, Katie, Julie, Nathan, Stephanie, Kristen, Ryan, Steven, Bethany, Emma-Leigh, Jaylianna and Janet, five great grandchildren: Zane, Tyler, Brady, Christian, Steven, her loving and dedicated friends and caregivers Sharon Mederios and Kay Soares and numerous nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Ovila, Alphaege, Albert and Conrad Rioux, Annette Leveille, Eva Bernier, Bertha Pineault, Lorraine Brodeur, Orize Carpenter, Yvette Vezina and Yvonne Raiche.

Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 10:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472, the Swansea Council on Aging, 260 Ocean Grove Ave., Swansea, MA 02777, or to Beacon Hospice, 182 N. Main St., Fall River, MA 02720. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
