With sadness, the daughters of Ruth Marguerite Thomson announce her passing. Ruth was the youngest of 13 children born to Christiana and Charles Langton and grew up in Bird's Hill, Manitoba. In 1964, she moved out to the West Coast with her husband and three children.
Mom had many special interests in her lifetime; golf, bridge, travel, walking, business enterprises, and education. She was a driven, remarkable woman who gave those that knew her an example to follow of a life well lived. These interests were all part of her happiness and success through various stages of her life. Her love of education brought her back to university in her late fifties and graduated top of her class with a degree in History and French. She became an accomplished water colour artist in her 50's and continued through to her nineties. Alzheimer's Disease took many of her pleasures away but not until her later 90's. She was a lover of walking and continued on her own and in the company of her family until she was unable at age 95. After that she continued to love her waterfront walks, with the assistance of a wheelchair and family to push her, right to her last days. This became the source of peace and great happiness in her last years.
Her daughters Leslie Thomson, Gail Robertson (grandchildren Jason, Marcia, and Chris), and Sydney Thomson (grandchildren Jason, Luke, and Kristy) mourn her passing. A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, August 21, 2017, at 1pm, at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28 Avenue, Surrey, BC.
