She was born to her late parents, Salome Cordoviz and Alfonso Carbonell on June 19, 1937, in Makati, Rizal, Philippines.
At a very young age, she lost her father and her family moved in with her favorite Uncle, Jose and Aunt Maria Cordoviz. She grew up with her many cousins who treated her and older brother, Leonardo, as siblings.
In 1964, two important events happened in her life: She received a BSc in Commerce from Baguio Tech and Commercial College, but more importantly married the love of her life, Juan, where they enjoyed 35 years together.
In 1973, they immigrated to Winnipeg Canada where she enjoyed many years employed at Canada Packers (Maple Leaf Foods) and owning her own grocery store.
In 1993, she and Juan, moved to the warmer climate of Vancouver BC, where she enjoyed crabbing, visiting the Steveston Pier, and enjoying life with her cousins.
She is survived by her five children: Jenny (Ross), Lourdes (Derek), Rosana (Michael), Maria (Paul), Leo (Kirsta), and grandchildren: Alycia, Matthias, Stefanie, Rachel, Tyler, Zachary, Steven, Erica, Madison, Grace, and Keoni.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and was happiest when she was camping, tending to her luscious garden, and cooking for friends and loved ones.
She will be remembered for her artistic gifts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to your favorite charity.
Many thanks and appreciation to staff at the Al Hogg Pavilion (Peace Arch Hospital) who lovingly cared for our mother in her last days.
