A lover of music, food and fashion - Ron will be remembered for hosting the best dinner parties. Music was a huge part of Ron’s life and he loved to be with friends on the dance floor, even if that was his living room. His charisma and sense of humor will be missed, his laugh took over a room and we cannot wait to hear it again.
Ron grew up in South Surrey and graduated high school from Earl Marriott Secondary-Class of ’89. Ron’s parents knew from an early age that food or fashion would be a part of his future, and it made them incredibly proud to see him find success in both. His first passion was in fashion which led him to attend the Fashion Academy in Montreal where he met his partner in life and love, Normand. After graduating, Ron and Normand moved back to Vancouver and started their namesake fashion label “Ron et Normand.” After 12 years building their own brand, it was time for a change. Ron moved on to build another upstart label along with New York designer Pamella Roland. In 2014, Ron and Normand honored a lifelong dream and their love of food by opening Wally Lucie and Sons located in Crescent Beach, named as a tribute to both their Mothers.
Ron is survived by the love of his life, Normand Brouillette, his partner of 30 years. Also survived by his parents Wally and Klaus Escher; sister Tina and brother-in-law Todd Hilditch and nephews Landen and Tommy; the Brouillette family, and many dear friends and relatives across Canada and Germany.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Peace Arch Hospital ICU for taking such compassionate care of Ron and our family in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron Escher’s name to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation or Arthritis Research Canada.
A Celebration of Life will happen at a later date when it is safe to do so.
