Mary was born on December 30, 1937 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland to Margaret and Alfred Gilliard. She moved to Canada at the age of 19 with her family and Matt (the love of her life).
Mary and Matt were married on September 20, 1958 in Toronto and raised two daughters and were later blessed with four grandchildren. During their years in Canada they lived in Toronto, London, Oakville, and White Rock.
Mary had a passion for tole painting and other crafts. She also loved to garden and bird watch. Her home featured her talents both inside with the crafts she created and outside in the beautiful garden. Mary was a dedicated volunteer with Peninsula United Church Women and shared her time and talents for baking, crafting and friendship to support the Church.
Mary is survived by her husband Matt, her two children, Susan and Alison, their husbands, Dan and Bill, and her four grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Tess and Kassiani. Mary deeply loved her family and she will be terribly missed by all of us - her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, brother and many nieces and nephews.
Given the Covid-19 pandemic, an open funeral service will not be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinson Society of British Columbia.
