Mrs. Margaret McAvoy was born in Scotland. She had three sons, Bob, Gary and Alan and a daughter, Gail. Since immigrating to Canada with her husband, Bill and their children, she has lived in Vancouver.
Margaret had two favourite things in life; nature and family. She had a beautiful flower garden at her home. She especially liked the birds and often hung bird feeders out in her garden. Inside her home, the family had a pet budgie. Margaret enjoyed cooking. Every Sunday, she cooked a big meal of roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy for her family! She also liked to knit and sew her clothes and made sweaters for her family.
Although Margaret did not belong to any faith tradition, she attended morning liturgy in the chapel at Columbus Residence every day and also enjoyed listening during the Hymn Sing/Prayer Circle program. She always responded to short visits with smiles and short and sweet responses such as “lovely!” or “beautiful!”
Margaret was a very sweet and quiet person. She enjoyed short 1:1 conversations, looking at pictures of animals, babies, birds and nature. She liked sitting in the garden on warm days, and in the sunroom. She had a special connection with one of our regular performers, Pete Campbell!
We will miss your sweet smile and whispers, Margaret!
May you now rest in peace in Heaven.
