Louise Mary Pollock

Louise was born on March 21st, 1933 to Mary and William Smith in Vancouver, British Columbia. Louise, with her sister Juanita, moved several times during her youth to Cranbrook, Coleman, Nelson, Quesnel, and graduating from high school back in Cranbrook.

In 1952, Louise moved to Vancouver to complete Normal School to train as a teacher. After graduating from Normal School, Louise began her teaching career in Jaffray and Rossland.

In 1954 Louise left teaching and moved to Vancouver to become an accounting clerk at Imperial Oil in Vancouver. Louise was working at Imperial Oil when she met Bill Ferguson, Vancouver City Policeman, and later married him in 1957.

This marriage lasted two years, and in January of 1959, she gave birth to her son, Bradley James in Oliver. Louise resumed her teaching career in 1960 at Annieville Elementary in Delta, where she met Allan Pollock.

Louise spent one year teaching in northern B.C. in the small rural town of Chetwynd. Louise married Allan Pollock on December 31st, 1964. The Pollock family purchased a home in Tsawwassen of July of 1965. While living in Tsawwassen, Louise gave birth to her daughter, Cynthia Louise.

The family resided in Tsawwassen until September of 1971 when Louise, Allan, and family migrated to Australia to continue teaching and traveling one year.

From 1973 to 1986, Louise pursued her teaching career at many elementary schools including Cliff Drive, Fairview, Ladner, and English Bluff. Along the way, Louise earned her ESL and Special Education certifications to tach at several schools such as Gibson, Richardson, and McCloskey. Louise took time to become educated in computer technology to become appointed as Microcomputer Associate with the BCTF, and she became involved in the Computer Educators of Delta.

In 1990, Louise was granted an educational leave to complete her five year ESL Diploma.

In the summer of 1992, Louise taught English in the Faculty of Law in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Louise retired from teaching in Delta in 1995, after a long and successful career.

After her retirement, Louise pursued her love of travel and went to many countries all over the world and to almost all the continents except Antarctica.

She spent many years enjoying the sun in Desert Hot Springs and Orange County, California. Louise was adventuresome, and she lived in two floating homes on the Fraser River before she settled in her condo in Langley. Louise loved to spend summers, and even a few winters, at the cabin at Green Lake in the Cariboo.

Louise continued her lifelong association with the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and she loved to help people by volunteering at the Langley Senior Center. Louise loved her walks and card games with her dear friends in her complex.

Louise was predeceased by her parents, Mary and William, her husband, Allan, and her sister, Juanita. She is survived by her children, Brad and Esther Pollock, Cyndy (Pollock) and Doug Brown. She loved her grandchildren, Allan, Joe, Scott, Samantha, and her niece, Penny with her daughter, Sherri. Her Grandma-love extended to her dear friend Beth Benson and her daughters, Amanda, Jessica and Katelyn. Louise loved exploring life and meeting new friends, and she will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
