In Loving Memory of Irene Lillian Coutts (Porter), who passed away peacefully on Family Day, at Peace Arch Hospital at 11:30am, with family at her side at the age of 91 young. She is predeceased by her loving husband Walter, of 57 years of marriage. She is survived by son Ron (Sally), son Larry (Sachiko), daughter Carol (Gary) Lindahl, son Walter, son David, and daughter/caregiver Marlene. Grandchildren Scott (Emily), Randall, Kendra, Kayla. Great Grandchildren Tyler and Chelsey. Irene was dearly loved by all she touched with her laughter and smile. If you knew Irene, a perfect day would be in the Spring, listening to Diana Krall, while sitting on her patio, sipping on a icy cold tropical ice tea, as the humming birds would visit the feeder hanging across from her. Mom's Favorite Passion was her Garden, wherever she lived. Daylight Saving Time was mom's friend, it meant more time in the dirt!; to deadhead, weed, fertilize, prune, etc...which payed off if you ever saw mom's garden. When she lived in Langley she enterered her 12" Dahlias, Breathtaking Glads, and huge vegetables at the P.N.E.; she won a "Blue Ribbon" for the "Best Garden" entry. She was very proud of her daughters for taking an interest in learning how to achieve a "Green Thumb" in her last garden; which was full of beauty, fragrance, fruit, and vegetables. Irene had many hands on passions, to name just a few were Baking, Canning, Winemaking. The Sea Festival was her favorite time in the summer, she would go down to White Rock Beach with her daughter Marlene and would spend the whole day and evening infront of the bandstands. She is now with Dad, brothers Arnold, Ken, Howard, her parents, relatives, and dear friends. Mom and Dad treasured those special occassions with Family whether it was Birthdays, Anniversary's, Easter, and especially Christmas. Dad is waiting for his partner, holding a pair of White Roller Skates in one hand, and a pair of Blue Dancing Shoes in the other.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 19, Sunday at Ocean Park Community Center 1577 128th St. White Rock, BC between 1pm and 4pm.
