Hazel Georgina Goodwin Percy passed away on April 23, 2023 in Surrey, BC, at the age of 95 years.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Jack (John Webster) Percy, 1963 and husband Gordon (Wm) Wright, 1972; grandson Stephen Edward Percy 1977 and daughter Joanne York 2003; brother Tom 2006; sisters Eleanor 2021 and Alice 2022.
She is survived by and will be lovingly missed by sons Larry (Debi), Randy (Norma) and Alan; grandchildren David Percy, Claudette (Dennis) Wong, Leanne (Joel) Rose, Christopher (Kendra) Percy and Justin (Renee) Sargent; extended family grandchildren Grant (Lauren) and Charmaine Guthrie; great-grandchildren Leilani and Cassandra Wong, Sam and Logan Percy and Bowen Sargent.
Hazel was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1928, and grew up on a homestead in Clandeboye. She graduated as an RN at Grace General Hospital in 1948, which is where her 4 children were born. She worked private duty at Winnipeg Hospital. After moving to B.C. in 1958, she became a relief nurse in hospitals and doctor offices, and later worked as a bookkeeper.
As a lifelong Anglican, Hazel served in different areas including Activity & Service at Kennedy Service Center & Fitness. She kept up with Grace Hospital Nurses Alumni membership and Reunions in Winnipeg. Hazel always had crafts on hand. She delighted always in family and treasured times with their celebrations. She had so many good, caring friends in Kamloops, Delta and Surrey. Her presence on this earth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
