Born in Vancouver to parents James Millar (originally of Airdrie, Scotland) and mother Mary (nee Bailey, originally from London, England), Ernie was married for 50 years to and predeceased in 2006 by his beloved wife Jackie (Jacqueline Kate Mary, nee Brent). Ernie was dad to sons Kerry and Brian (Bev Tyler) and former daughter-in-law Michele Pankratz. He was also the much loved grandpa of Reilen Millar. Ernie was predeceased by his brother Walter and is survived by brother Tom (Carol) Millar, niece Debbie and family, and nephews Jamie, Scott and Steve and their families.
Ernie and Jackie married in 1956 and raised sons Kerry and Brian primarily in the Renfrew area of East Vancouver. Family trips around the province in the truck and camper are a special memory for Kerry and Brian. In their retirement years, Ernie and Jackie moved to Walnut Grove (Langley), enjoying their connections with family and neighbours and also time at the trailer in Harrison Holiday Park, Harrison Hot Springs. Trips to favourites like Reno with family and friends were a special highlight.
Ernie was a hardworking man his entire life, spending the majority of his working years (til age 75) as a heavy-duty tow truck driver for Buster’s and then Davidson’s Towing and Transport.
We will miss the mischievous twinkle in Ernie’s eye, his amazing Christmas lights displays, family dinners and celebrations, his generosity, loving spirit and dedication to family.
We’ll say our final goodbyes to Ernie at 10 a.m. Thursday November 14, 2024 at First Memorial Funeral Home, Fraser Heights Chapel, 14835 Fraser Hwy Surrey. Family and friends are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada in Jackie’s memory are appreciated.
