Yim Ling (Elsa) Lui (63) peacefully passed away at home with her husband Tony and son Anson by her bedside on July 10, 2023. Despite battling cancer for the past year-and-a-half, Elsa's final days were filled with gratitude, smiles, and love.
Born on June 6, 1960, Elsa grew up in Hong Kong, where she cherished her close relationships with her father, grandmother, and older God-Siblings (Kong Family). She had a passion for music and played the guitar while being an active member of the New Method College Choir, where she met lifelong friends.
In the 1980s, Elsa attended the University of Winnipeg, and formed a close group of friends. After graduating with a Major in Business Computing and Minor in Economics, she returned to Hong Kong to establish a successful career as a Business Systems Analyst at various companies.
In 1989, while working at COL, Elsa met her husband Tony. They shared a love for travel, scuba-diving, and food, which they enjoyed together on adventures around Asia and Africa before settling in Vancouver in 1993.
In 1995, Elsa and Tony welcomed their son Anson, and the family enjoyed numerous activities together, including snorkeling, skiing, and biking. They created cherished memories during their travels and road trips through North America, the Caribbean, and the rest of the world.
Elsa spent over 20 years working at WorkSafeBC, where she developed strong bonds with colleagues who became family friends. After retiring in 2019, she remained active, dedicating time to hiking, cycling and swimming. She was a proponent and practiced Tai Chi, Meditation, and personal growth.
Elsa will be remembered for her positivity, warm smile, and the meaningful relationships she built with family and friends. In her final days, she expressed deep gratitude for the fulfilling life she had lived. Tony and Anson extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for the love and support Elsa experienced throughout her 63 years of life.
