Dorothy is survived by her daughter Barbara (Dale) Johnston (Fraser) and son in law Barrie Fraser and her son John Johnston and daughter in law Dawn Johnston. Dorothy was the second eldest of her 12 siblings from parents, Edith McRae (Hadwin) and George Hadwin. Dorothy is survived by her beloved sister Barbara Humphrey and her husband Ted Humphrey and her beloved brother Robert Hadwin. Dorothy is also survived by her 4 grandsons, Todd Fraser and wife, Emily and Britt Fraser and wife, Marcie, Nathan Johnston and Mitchell Johnston and partner, Sonia. Dorothy also leaves behind her 7 great grandchildren, India 7 and sister Penelope 2, Mitchell Jr. 7 and sister Lorinda 10, Morgan 24, and sister Danika 22, and brother Keaton 18.
Dorothy was born in Montreal Quebec and even back then, her will to do well, led to her becoming a tenacious student earning a scholarship into university. However the scholarship was set aside for instead, a paying job at the bank. She met her husband Alfred during that period and soon married and became the ever giving, and energetic mother of three, Lynne, Dale and Johnny.
In 1958 the family moved from Montreal to BC. Dorothy and Alfred became members of the Point Grey Golf Club. It wasn't long until Dorothy became a force to be reckoned with at the game of golf and went on to be Ladies Club Champion and Ladies Club Captain. Her perserverance, determination and precision also led her to add not one, but Two “Hole in Ones” to her resume. Dorothy didn’t stop there with her interests. Dorothy also became an avid bowler in a ladies league, a competitive curler with the Vancouver Curling Club and she also took bridge lessons, going on to be a top notch bridge player amongst her friends from the Point Grey Golf Club. Dorothy and husband Alf shared many happy memories with family on the golf course, as well as travelling to various golf clubs in BC and other golf destinations down south with friends.
Dorothy had a very full life, but not without losses along the way, including the loss of both, her eldest daughter Lynne and her husband Alfred. Dorothy was also a Breast Cancer survivor.
Dorothy was always known for her strength of character and her will to succeed and was always a loyal friend to those lucky enough to be in her circle. Dorothy loved to entertain and was always ready to try a new recipe and share it with family and friends, which usually included good food and good wine and lots of laughter.
They say, that no one is perfect, yet Dorothy, our mom, always strove for perfection in everything she did. She was always there for her children and her grandkids, always making sure that they had the things they needed. She will be missed by us all and remembered with Love, Forever.
