So glad we made it out to Arizona for a visit.  We had such a great day with Bill and Judy.   
Judy, Bill was a great person and he will live on in our memories forever.  Sending you love and hugs.

We were very fond of Bill.  He truly was a genuinely pleasant guy, so easy to be around and interesting to talk with. He will be missed.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos.  We have heavy hearts but are grateful to have such happy memories of Bill to treasure forever.  Being high school friends with Judy, I remember when Bill came into her life.  She had no doubt he was “the one” and at her bridal shower I came to the same conclusion.  When I saw Bill tie a paper plate full of gift ribbons and bows on the top of his head like a hat, I knew his humor was the perfect match for Judy’s fun-loving spirit.  It was a joy to watch them get married, renew their vows a quick 25 years later, and celebrate each wedding anniversary since.  Although Bill and Judy relocated West to Arizona and my family East to Connecticut, we’ve always been able to pick up right where we left off whenever we got together.  It was those times that I saw Bill’s caring nature for everyone around him (including his four-legged friends) and his patience when my catch-up conversations with Judy went on and on.  We kept up mailing birthday cards long distance and Bill never missed the chance to remind us that he was enjoying his February birthday floating in his pool while we were more than likely shoveling snow.  I’m also quite certain it was Bill who inspired us to replace all of our house plants with prickly cacti and, over the years, to acquire a few remote-control cars.  Our kids rank Bill’s garage, with fabulous cars and slot machines, as the coolest they have ever seen, and we agree.  The photos I’ve added are from our visit in 2019.  Bill gave us the royal treatment with great food, a wild drive through the dessert, and a mini concert playing guitar.  I loved catching the sparkle in Bill’s eyes because that meant a joke was not far behind and he did not disappoint.  Bill’s wit and smile drew people in but it’s his genuine friendship that will be missed most of all.  With love, Viv, John and family

The garage door was our code

When open 

The three amigos would often gravitate to it
It was part of our social life to visit and catch up with each other 
It was often a time to turn wrenches on one vehicle or another
Projects and adventures were planned and executed

When closed

A phone call would be made
The call invariably ended with “I’ll meet you at the garage door “
Consultations would take place
Tools would be exchanged

We were happy
We were good friends
Neighbors would always stop to visit
Mischief was never off the table too

The garage door began to be closed more as Billy battled for his life 
When opened it was now mostly social time
An update on the battle and a sharing of concern
His love for Judy

Judy, those pictures are great memories we have of you and Bill. We had a lot laughs together. You couldn't ask for better neighbors! You both looked after Austin and Ryan like they were your own children. Brent still has the ransom note we found nailed to a cross in our front yard for our poor stolen Homer Simpson. We are still trying to raise enough money to get him back. I'll never forget his snicker when he thought he and Brent had gotten away with something and his smile. He was always smiling. I have missed all of the beautiful yard decorations that showed up on Monday mornings after garbage picking Sunday nights. You two will always hold a special place in my heart. I will miss him dearly he was a special person. The world lost a good one! You are in my prayers Judy! Love, Doris

I met Billy when he was about 9. I  was a friend of his Brother Mike. Bill always had smile and enjoying his life. He was hanging around Midway airport with his friends. He loved the muscle cars we had back in the 60’s. , and I knew he would turn into a car guy.

I hadn’t seen or talked to Billy for years. We reconnected a few years ago. I was glad to hear how well his life turned out, and how much he loved Judi.

He will be missed, and condolences to his family.

Bill and Judy and Deb and I shared some great holiday dinners together. 

We took turns hosting the dinners and enjoying our visits together. 

Playing Michigan Rummy and UNO was a lot of fun. Car shows were good times too...

I'll miss Bill. 

We miss you so very much already Bill. Can’t sum up just one memory as there’s so many wonderful times shared.  Our lives were blessed the day we met you. Your spirit will live forever in our hearts. We love you. Cheers to you dear friend.

Bill was a driver at Jewel Foods in Melrose Park as I was. He was one of the nicest people you would ever meet. Always had a smile and a kind word. Everyone enjoyed his company. Rest In Peace friend.

I worked with Bill for many years driving for Jewel foods.  He was always quick with a joke or prank and always first to offer a helping hand.....my condolences to his wife and family. 

Bill the best a neighbor we could have, funny, a little crazy and a loyal friend. Always there to lend a hand and help me with a project.  When the workday was done, a bonfire, a beer and pizza was always fun. The antics we pulled on each other throughout the years was priceless.
I'm sure the other neighbors envied the fact we had so much fun. From rockets, fireworks, RC cars, working on the restoration of his classic cars to bowling in the street at night. These are great memories I'm glad I had the chance to experience them with Bill, I will miss him.
