William was born on May 11, 1942 in West Virginia to Edith Scott and Richard Nalley. He moved to Detroit, MI at a young age, where he attended and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1960. William attended Michigan State University where he played basketball. He then decided to join the United States Air Force where he served as a Dental Technician with a tour in the Vietnam War. He was stationed throughout the world in his 20 years of service. He retired from the military when he took a job at the Veterans of America Hospital in Tucson, AZ. He worked at the VA for 22 years before retiring. While he was in the military and worked for the VA, he was an accomplished football and basketball coach. His volunteered coaching jobs were for the local bases he was stationed at, various Pop Warner teams, various Ott YMCA teams, Palo Verde High School and Cholla High School with most of his years of coaching in Tucson, AZ. Williams's life accomplishments include working for MoTown Records as a choreographer, being a DJ, playing golf and becoming a father as his life's greatest joy.
He was always welcoming to all he met and had the joy of coaching. Everyone became like family to him throughout his entire life.
William was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Scott ;and his father, Richard Nalley.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 37 years, Mary Nalley; by his children, William Curtis Nalley II, Enid Nalley, and Michelle (Albert) Castro; and his grandchildren, Alberto Castro and Alivia Castro; and many other extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W Bell Rd in Surprise, Arizona.
